Mark Cannan

Selected by his peers to be included in the Best Lawyers in America and rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbel, Mark Cannan has practiced law in San Antonio for over 40 years. Much of his practice has been in First Amendment related matters. He has represented print and broadcast media outlets as well as individuals, and has tried defamation cases on both sides of the docket. He has also handled and tried a wide range of civil matters including commercial litigation, employment disputes, land use controversies and professional liability claims. He also served three terms as a member and panel chair for the State Bar Grievance Committee.

Mark Cannan was raised in upstate New York and received a Bachelor's Degree from King's College, graduating magna cum laude. After serving in the United States Air Force, he received his law degree from University of Texas School of Law and has been a San Antonio Lawyer ever since. In his free time, he stays active running and biking, having completed marathons in San Antonio, Boston and places in between.
